ER Wagner breaks ground on new facility

ER Wagner officially broke ground July 19 on a new 157,000-square-foot building in the Village of Menomonee Falls.

“What a great day for our celebration,” said ER Wagner president and chief executive officer Lew Schildkraut during his address to the crowd at the groundbreaking ceremony. “This is definitely a significant milestone and legacy event for ER Wagner.”

The new building, located at W130 N8691 Old Orchard Road, will include approximately 135,000-square-feet of manufacturing space and 22,000 square-feet of office space, and plans also allow for a future 45,000-square-foot addition.

ER Wagner has been designing, developing and supplying high-quality hinges and stampings, machined and wrapped tubes, and casters and wheels, for global manufacturers and distributors for more than a century. The company has been at its Milwaukee facility, 4611 N. 32nd St., for more than 115 years. It also has a facility in Brookfield, Ill.

Village President Joseph Helm welcomed ER Wagner to Menomonee Falls and thanked the company for its investment in the community.

“That’s what makes our economy grow, prosper and thrive,” Helm said. “It’s companies that are willing to come, make an investment, make a commitment, take the risk and provide wonderful jobs for families and people.”

U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who provided a recorded statement to play at the groundbreaking because he is scheduled to speak at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, congratulated the company on its longevity, and called the event a huge milestone.

“I’m a big believer in celebrating business success, and this groundbreaking for ER Wagner certainly qualifies,” Johnson said.

The building is scheduled for completion in mid-2017.

“Our new building will foster an environment that encourages creativity and inspires pride in ownership,” Schildkraut said. “Now the hard work begins.”
