We recently completed a continuous improvement event in our Hinge plant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This event resulted in the creation of a cell utilizing standard work, counter clockwise work flow, posted metrics, point of use inventory, point of use tooling and point of use gauging. The goal of the event was to set up standard work by identifying and eliminating wastes such as quality defects, waiting, transportation, overproduction, process, inventory, motion and unused creativity.
This standard work kaizen event included a team made up of manufacturing engineering, tooling engineering, maintenance, quality, plant management and manufacturing operators from the existing cell.
Results of this event include: reduction of space requirements by 50%, cycle time reductions of 99%, changeover time reduced by 75% and inventory reduced by 25%.
Thanks to all participating team members for helping achieve these tremendous results.
