E.R. Wagner Modernizes Tooling Facility
In an ongoing effort to improve cost, quality and lead-time E.R. Wagner has made significant investments in its tooling capabilities through the modernization of its main design and build facility in Brookfield, IL. Several new items have been added to complement the current array of equipment and services rendered, including this Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) machine:

This addition eliminates our dependence on outside vendors and speeds new tool production as well as repairs on existing tooling, all at a substantially lower cost! To complement the wire EDM process for tooling components we have also supplanted our processing skills with both a vertical mill and automated precision grinder.

The Doosan machining center allows for multiple operations and tool changes all in one unit. The 30 tool carousel allows for a wide array of operations without the time and cost associated with traditional tool room processes. By automatic programming and virtually instantaneous tool changeover tool components can be fabricated with high precision at a fraction of the cost and time previously experienced.
The last part of our recent additions is the precision Okamoto grinder that allows us to produce the last of our custom tooling components in house.

The combination of these equipment investments coupled to our Continuous Improvement Program and training of tool makers has propelled E.R. Wagner into the modern tool making era while reducing costs and lead-times.
Investing in domestic plants and resources continues to be a hallmark of E.R. Wagner and our vision is coming to fruition. While global sourcing is still essential, the sheen has come off the strategy of strictly seeking off shore solutions. E.R. Wagner continues to provide cost effective product and assemblies to a variety of industries and applications while continually investing and creating employment domestically. Our strategy is creating globally competitive products without the inventory, support and logistics issues surrounding traditional importation programs.

E.R. Wagner Replaces Chinese Part
Working with its customer, E.R Wagner Engineered Products Division identified a protential cost savings and proposed replacing a Chinese made cut Body Mount Tube with a US made wrapped tube. The proposal, wrapping the parts from coil steel using an interlocking seam, yielded substantial cost savings over conventional DOM tubing. As soon as E.R Wagner designed and supplied prototypes were tested and approved, we were awarded the work.

Furthering In-source Production Capabilities
Based on increased customer demand and a Continuous Improvement Program project, E.R. Wagner has completed the installation of a buffing and polishing facility to further in-source production capabilities while reducing both lead-time and cost.

The unit features a number of quick change wheels for all types of materials and finishes and is coupled to a high efficiency air filtration system to maintain our surrounding environment. The unit has provided better results than previously outsourced production and allows our customers to meet their ever shortening windows to provide their products.

Earlier this year a surveillance audit was conducted at E.R. Wagner Engineered Products Division (EPD) and we successfully met the requirements for recertification to TS16949: 2002, the recognized automotive industry standard for quality management systems.
Continuing certification to this standard demonstrates E.R. Wagner EPD's committmentcommitment to meeting customer expectations for quality and performance. It also establishes EPD as a world class supplier of engineered hinges, flat and tubular metal stampings and assemblies.

Double Disc Rotary Grinding Added to Manufacturing Capabilities
E.R. Wagner Manufacturing Company is pleased to announce that it has implemented Double Disc Rotary Grinding as its latest manufacturing capability enhancement. The addition of the new capability continues E.R. Wagner’s plan of more fully integrating its manufacturing processes into a continuous one piece flow to insure the highest quality, highest reliability, and most cost effective engineered solutions for our valued customers. This is the latest addition to Wagner’s manufacturing capability expansion that are targeted to offer superior quality and lead time responsiveness to better support both existing and prospective customers..

The Double Disc Grinding equipment has two 23-inch grinder wheels that can produce continuously for over six months before needing replacement in quick-change over fashion. The machine can grind various types of steel as well as holding up to 0.0005” flatness tolerance. As is the case in all our capability investments, this manufacturing process will produce at both a high quality and high output level.

Stocker Hinges Expands Quality Assurance Capabilities
Stocker Hinges announced today that it has initiated improvements of their Quality Assurance capabilities by building a laboratory facility expansion and implementing a new Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) system.

“The new Quality Assurance laboratory will provide improved facilities to support the entire quality assurance function,” explained Brian Stocker, Stocker Hinge Director of Operations. The new, state of the art computerized CMM will allow for nearly instantaneous response of measurement and quantification of part dimensions for use in design, engineering, manufacturing and customer certifications. This new system technology is also compatible with all other ER Wagner systems and plants allowing for a seamless exchange of information and data across the entire network of ER Wagner manufacturing facilities.
These new Quality Assurance capabilities provide Stocker Hinges with improved capabilities to quickly measure increasingly complex parts and assemblies and also provide a wide range of automated data collection and report generation features for our valued customers. Stocker Hinge management personnel have recently been trained and certified on the new equipment and software.
The new facilities are being built and the Stocker management team expects the Quality Assurance laboratory to be complete by the end of October, 2010.

Washing System Added to E.R. Wagner Manufacturing Capabilities
E.R. Wagner Manufacturing Company is pleased to announce today that it has implemented a new state of the art washing system to improve product quality, lead time responsiveness, and cost effectiveness to better support both our existing and prospective customers. The new wash line capability will allow E.R. Wagner to continue to integrate its’ manufacturing processes into a continuous one piece flow to insure the highest quality, highest reliability, and most cost effective engineered solutions for our valued customers.

The new wash system is a variable speed, 36” wide belt that can run at speeds from 0-10 feet per minute. The entire wash system was E.R. Wagner designed and custom built with all stainless steel components to include multiple wash and degrease stations, rinse cycles, rust inhibitor application and forced air drying. This washer can handle both large and small part applications with consistent high quality and high output levels.

E.R. Wagner Receives Governor’s Commendation
Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle recently presented E.R. Wagner Manufacturing Company with a Certificate of Commendation recognizing the company’s Foundation for its long standing support of financial education.

For 40 years, the E.R. Wagner Manufacturing Company Foundation has provided financial support to The Wisconsin Council on Economic Educations, a non-profit, non-partisan organization providing economic education resources to teachers, students and schools. E.R. Wagner Manufacturing Company shareholders and directors believe educating public and private school students about economics, the economic system and personal financial literacy is necessary preparation for them to function as full participants in the community.

E.R. Wagner Wrapped Tubes Replace Cut Tubes made in China
E.R. Wagner recently started production on two wrapped spacers used in an automotive application. The parts were previously purchased from a Chinese company who made them from cut tubing and they were resourced to E.R. Wagner as a cost savings.
ER Wagner can provide wrapped tubular components, with a butted or locked seam, incorporating tolerances in line with drawn tubing. Our unique processes eliminate costly secondary operations such as piercing and notching by incorporating them in the flat before strip material is rolled. This saves you money without compromising part quality or integrity

EPD Recertifies to ISO 14001
E.R. Wagner Engineered Products Division recently completed a successful recertification audit of its ISO14001 Environmental Management System.
ISO14000 is a series of international standards on environmental management. ISO14001 provides a framework for the development of an environmental management system and supporting audit program which a company can be certified by a third party.
This recertification, coupled with our recent recertification to TS16949, verifies that E.R Wagner Engineered Products Division manufactures its products to a quality and environmental management system recognized by the automotive industry worldwide.

E.R. Wagner Acquires Assets of Mettec Inc.
ER Wagner Manufacturing announced today that it has acquired substantially all the assets of Mettec, Inc. Mettec is a specialty high volume wire and metal products fabricator located in Tulsa, OK that serves the Industrial and Automotive marketplaces.
“The acquisition of Mettec broadens our manufacturing capabilities in wire fabrications and adds a small part coating capability to all of the ER Wagner manufacturing businesses.” stated President and CEO Jerry Boll. The business and assets of Mettec have been relocated and integrated into the ER Wagner Manufacturing Milwaukee location.

Engineered Products Recertifies to TS16949
In early February 2010, a surveillance audit was conducted at E.R. Wagner Engineered Products Division (EPD) and we successfully met the requirements for recertification to TS16949: 2002.
TS16949: 2002 is the recognized automotive industry standard for quality management systems. Continuing certification to this standard ensures E.R. Wagner Manufacturing Company’s Engineered Products Division’s customers that it is dedicated to meeting their expectations for quality and performance.
Previous to this recertification, EPD had been certified to TS16949 as the Engineered Hinges and Stampings and Tubular Products Divisions. In meeting the challenge to recertify, EPD has established itself as a supplier of engineered hinges and flat and tubular metal stampings produced under a quality management system recognized by the automotive industry worldwide.

Engineered Products Division Launches New Parts
Engineered Products Division recently completed a successful launch of 9 different stampings and assemblies used on the GMT900 platform.
This high volume work was competitively bid and awarded to E.R. Wagner in early 2008. Using Engineered Products Division’s New Product Launch procedure, tools were designed and built on time and within budget. Samples were also submitted on time and approved on the first submission.
Now successfully launched, we look forward to supporting full production requirements, estimated at 6,000,000 pieces a year, with high quality parts shipped on time.

Tools Transfered to E.R. Wagner
Since the 1st of the year, close to 10 customers have pulled over 60 sets of tools from financially troubled suppliers and placed them with E.R. Wagner Engineered Products Division. In these difficult times, E.R. Wagner remains financially sound. We have the resources, capacity and experience to quickly absorb takeover work.

E.R. Wagner recognized by PACCAR
E.R. Wagner was recently recognized by PACCAR for achieving a 50 PPM quality level in 2008.
Along with a letter of congratulatons and a certificate of Quality Achievement, E.R. Wagner's name will be included as a 2008 50 PPM Supplier on PACCAR's internet site and displayed in their lobby.
E.R. Wagner Engineered Products Division is a TS16949 certified supplier of engineered hinges, assemblies, motor housings and flat and tubular metal stampings.

Stocker Announces Premium Express Guaranteed (PEG) Program
Stocker introduces a new super-fast manufacturing program. The PEG backbone is an inventory of 56 eight foot long unfinished hinges in a wide variety of leaf thicknesses and open widths, in steel, 304 stainless and aluminum. Contact your Stocker representative or our Customer Service Department for a menu of available PEG inventory.
A work cell of four presses has also been dedicated to performing standard operations on the PEG inventory, including cutting to length, perforating, forming, swaging and staking the hinges to customers' specifications.
The promise is that custom hinges produced from PEG inventory and requiring up to three standard operations will ship in 5-7 working days after receipt of order. Those requiring four or more standard operations will ship within 7-12 working days. Products requiring base hinges which are not included in the PEG inventory and/or those requiring finishing, degreasing, spring-loading, special packaging or other non-standard operations will be shipped as quoted.
If you need your hinges in a hurry, the PEG program is for you. Contact your representative or the Stocker Customer Service Department for program limitations. E.R. Wagner helps keep the Green Bay Packers rolling
There are many people responsible for keeping the Green Bay Packers going on their winning ways. E.R. Wagner Casters & Wheels and Badger Case from Saukville, WI. are two of them.
The December 16th St. Louis Ram game marked the first time that the equipment cases were fitted with E.R. Wagner specially color coordinated casters representing our favorite team. These casters are green and gold and have the Packer logo on them. Specifically, the case that held Brett Favre’s football that broke the all time NFL career passing yardage record was stored in one of these cases.

James R. Lande has been elected to the Board of Directors of E.R. Wagner Manufacturing Co.
Lande, 60, is Chief Executive Officer of Quadion Corporation headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. Quadion Corporation consists of four Minnesota Rubber and Plastics Divisions with nine plants and sales support offices in the United States, Mexico, Singapore, China and France.
Founded in 1900, E.R. Wagner’s corporate headquarters, the Engineered Stampings and Hinges Business Unit, and the Tubular Products Division are located in Milwaukee. Milwaukee business units server automotive, truck, appliance, electrical/electronic, and recreational markets. Its Casters and Wheels and Haydock Casters Business Units, with operations in Hustisford and Iron Ridge, serve industrial, commercial, institutional, food service and health care markets. Stocker Hinges, in Brookfield, Illinois, serves industrial hinge markets. E.R. Wagner is also involved in a Joint Venture in China and has a Hong Kong Trading Company.

Designed to provide constant torque throughout full range of motion, this family of twelve series is ideally suited to a wide variety of applications requiring the ability to hold objects at various positions. In addition, they provide smooth movement for a quality “feel”.
